Abstract
Lower urinary tract symptoms are common in patients with neurodegenerative diseases and are important to recognize and treat to maintain quality of life. In this article, we focus on patients suffering from Parkinsons disease and atypical parkinsonism and the different onset and character of urinary symptoms in both groups. A diagnostic approach in primary health care, possible behavioral changes, and types of oral treatments are discussed. Further invasive treatments including botulinum toxin injections, sacral neuromodulation, and bladder augmentation are also discussed.
