Abstract

A 34-year-old man with a history of self-administering paraffin injections to the upper extremities and pectoral muscles for esthetic enhancement underwent an [ 18 F]FDG PET/CT scan. Images show disseminated hypodense granulomas, representing oil deposits, throughout the upper extremity and chest musculature. Extensive calcifications were present throughout the body, infiltrating muscles, subcutaneous tissues, and the scrotum, and depositing as nephrolithiasis in the kidneys as well as in the vascular walls.
