Fasciitis plantaris

Translated title of the contribution: Fasciitis plantaris

Abstract

Fasciitis plantaris is a multifactorial disease with a lifetime prevalence of 10%. The course is often long and painful, causing patient frustration. This review shows treatment is primarily non-operative, with 90% of patients experiencing relief symptoms within one year. Based on current literature, first-line treatment is conservative with unloading, stretching, excentric exercise, correct shoe wear, and orthotics. Corticosteroids may be used as a supplement in persistent cases. Surgery is reserved for recalcitrant cases without improvement (> 12 months).
