Abstract
In this case, we report one case of a patient from the Faroe Islands who suffered a pilon fracture. The patient was ultimately treated with isolated arthrodesis of the talocrural joint using antegrade tibial nailing. This procedure preserves the subtalar joint, providing the patient with greater mobility in the hindfoot compared to tibia-talus-calcaneus arthrodesis and enhancing walking ability. We reserve this technique for patients with anticipated higher functional demands.
