Abstract
Serious neurological side effects to common medications are rare but surprisingly diverse. They can be divided according to anatomical location, symptomatology, and substance classes. The side effects are associated with dysfunction and symptoms which cover the entire central and peripheral nervous system, i.e. from the cortex to muscle cells. Two drug classes have a particular potential for neurological side effects, namely CNS medications and oncological therapeutics. In this review, relevant side effects are first presented grouped from central to peripheral, and then neurological side effects for the growing group of biologics in oncology therapy are described.
