Method development for quantitative analysis by LC-MS/MS and UPLC-MS/MS, including the use of various clean-up techniques for complex sample matrices. Organisation and quality assurance of LC-MS/MS analyses for environmental and clinical research projects.

Main research areas

My research is on developing quantitative methods based on liquid chromatography combined with tandem mass spectrometry for a specific, sensitive and accurate determination of relevant pharmaceutical substances, DNA and RNA oxidation products and other biomarkers in various biological matrices.  

My research is the basis for our laboratory’s research in areas like optimizing the treatment of type 2 diabetes and the search for a better understanding of hemochromatosis, Alzheimer's disease and heart failure.

Current research

Various research projects which involve the quantification of oxidated RNA or DNA degradation products in urine.
