Tove Filtenborg Tvedskov is a Professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, and consultant in breast surgery at the Department of Breast Surgery, Gentofte Hospital, Copenhagen, Denmark. She graduated from the University of Aarhus as a medical doctor (MD) in 1995 and earned her Ph.D at the University of Copenhagen in 2012 on omitting axillary clearance in case of micrometastases in the sentinel node in patients with breast cancer and her doctoral degree of Medical Sciences (DMSc; dr.med.) in 2017 on the evolution of the sentinel node procedure in the treatment of breast cancer. She became specialist in surgery in 2007 and subspecialist in breast surgery in 2013. Her main research area is de-escalating axillary surgery. She is a member for the SENOMAC trial steering committee on omitting axillary surgery in sentinel node positive patients, principal investigator on the national DBCG RT RECON trial on delayed-immediate breast reconstruction and head of the national steering committee for the international MELODY trial on marking methods for non-palpable breast lesions. She is a member of the Danish Breast Cancer Group (DBCG) steering board, head of the DBCG surgical board and member of the Nordic Breast Cancer Network (NBCN) steering group.
