Personal profile

Expertises

Molecular biology techniques incl. qPCR, Western Blotting, FISH, Immunoassays, Immunohistochemistry and their application in neuroscience.

Main research areas

Neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple System Atrophy, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

Current research

Accumulation of abnormal forms of different proteins is a trigger for many neurodegenerative diseases. Recent evidence suggests that much of the downstream neurodegeneration may result from inflammatory responses. I focus on understanding the relationship between the proteins involved in pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases and subsequent immune responses towards these proteins. This may help to reveal new targets for neuroprotective interventions.
