The PhD project is a part of a collaboration between the Department of Radiology at Rigshospitalet and Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging at Technical University of Denmark in Lyngby Copenhagen. 

Main research areas

The project supervisor DrTechn, Professor Jørgen Arendt Jensen has developed an angle independent ultrasound technique called Vector Flow Imaging, which can limit operator dependency related to estimation of blood flow velocities and quantify the complexity of blood flow by estimating the degree of diversity.

Current research

The work in my PhD thesis will primarily consist of studies comparing the angle independent ultrasound technique Vector Flow Imaging with the conventional technique pulse wave Doppler. We have performed a literature study regarding ultrasound examination of chronic venous disease, a comparative study of blood flow velocities in the proximal deep veins in the lower extremities of volunteers and examined the superficial and deep veins in the lower extremities of  patients with varicose vein disease.

Potential conflicts of interest

The project supervisor DrTechn, Professor Jørgen Arendt Jensen has patented the transverse oscillation ultrasound technique and has commercial interests in the sale of ultrasound scanners with the transverse oscillation Vector Flow Imaging technique implemented.
