    Expertises

    - Skeletal muscle protein turnover

    - Exercise and nutrition

    - Stable isotope tracer methodologies

    Main research areas

Main research areas are the regulation of skeletal muscle mass and function in relation to physical activity/inactivity, nutrition, and ageing. Skeletal muscle mass and function are measured and analysed at different levels by use of state-of-the-art methods and equipment.

    Current research

Project: Counteracting Age-related Loss of Skeletal Muscle Mass (CALM). CALM is an interdisciplinary research collaboration focusing on age-related loss of skeletal muscle mass and the effect of dietary protein and physical activity in achieving a healthier and more active lifestyle among older people. Focus areas within CALM are protein intake and levels of exercise, skeletal muscle mass and function, gut microbiota and metabolome, lifestyle changes in everyday practices, socio-cultural and historical paradigms of ageing, consumer studies and development of food prototypes, and stakeholder involvement.
