Expertises

Animal stroke models; clinical trials; statistics; writing of scientific manuscripts; teachings in general pathology; brain science.

Main research areas

Primarily to find new treatments for stroke, including both intracerebral heamorrhages (ICH) and infarcts caused by embolization.

In our animal lab by using a real (autologous) blood clot we're able to test the clot dissolving and thrombolytic efficacy of novel compounds.

Other research areas include clinical trials, especially focusing on improving health care and treatments of stroke patients. Examples of trials include improving anticoagulant therapy, reducing post-stroke fatigue and limiting post-stroke pneumonia.

Current research

My primary job functions are to design, implement and monitor clinical trials. Currently I'm working on the following trials:

1. Effect of PROgressive Training and TESTsterone in Older Frail Men (PROTEST)
ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02873559

2. Rehabilitation of Visual Function After Brain Injury (IBOS-NVT)
ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03160131
