With an educational background in cell biology my current research focuses on lupus nephritis (LN), with the purpose of identifying the underlying mechanisms. In this regard, we suspect cell-derived microparticles (MPs) in the blood to act as a primary source of glomerular immune complex deposits found among LN patients. Technically, the project involves flow cytometry (for characterization of both cells and MPs), immunofluorescence (for examination of kidney biopsies), and various functional assays.
