Current research

Using Stereology (the optical fractionator, Cavalieri’s principle, the rotator and the proportionator techniques) I have studied structural changes in psychiatric diseases and neurodegenerative disorders. I am currently using stereology to examine whether there are specific cellular changes in in the cerebellum in patients with Parkinson’s disease and Multiple System Atrophy.? Furthermore, I am studying the regulation of mRNA and protein level specific receptor systems following depression-like behaviour and electroconvulsive stimulation.
