Expertises
Measurement and visualization of O2 depletion
Bacterial susceptibility test with antibiotics on biofilm
Detection of reactive O2 species with different techniques
Operating a hyperbaric oxygen chamber
Main research areas
My main research interest is the effect of host responses on bacterial susceptibility to antibiotics. It has become clear that host cells may cause limited oxygen availability in bacterial infections, whereby a stratified physiology occurs, that is associated with increased tolerance of antibiotics.
Current research
i am currently investigating the effect of supplementation of O2 under hyperbaric pressure in combibation with antibiotics on bacteial biofilm in order to increase the bactericidal activity of antibiotics.
Potential conflicts of interest
I have no conflict of interest
