Main research areas

My research projects aim to improve diagnosis and understanding of human nervous system diseases and to improve treatment. Objectives of clinical research projects include clinical course and pathogenic mechanisms of sepsis and cognitive decline examined with with EEG and MR.  Animal experiments characterize disease processes and consequences of central nervous system disorders.

Current research

Development of new clinical tools for diagnosis and treatment of nervous system disorders, and development and implementation of animal models and experimental techniques for translational research, including but not limited to cerebral blood flow, oxygen consumption, cortical spreading depolarization waves, astrocyte and  neuronal calcium homeostasis and the blood-brain barrier.
