    Current research

Cognitive deficits are a big part of schizophrenia and critical for the functional outcome of the patients. In my Ph.D. project I examine the relationship between cognitive deficits and the structural connectivity of the cerebral white matter in schizophrenia patients to shed light on the pathophysiology behind cognitive deficits.

The patients I examine are antipsychotic-naïve and first-episode patients meaning that they have never received any antipsychotic medication in their life and they have not been ill for a long time. This is crucial to rule out effects of medication and illness when looking at brain differences.
