Main research areas
My early research work focused on the epidemiology of pain medication overuse in the treatment of headache. This has since broadened into examining headache and other pain complaints among patients in treatment for psychiatric illness.
I currently work at the Competence Center for Transcultural Psychiatry (CTP) in Mental Health Center Ballerup, which is a specialized center for the treatment of traumatized refugees who have symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. This group of patients very often have comorbid chronic pain.
Another research interest relates to clinical psychiatry in Greenland, where we are in the process of strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration between CTP and the psychiatry department of Queen Ingrid’s Hospital in Nuuk.
