Current research

The current project is part of an interdisciplinary (philosophy, psychiatry, theology) project on "self-understanding and self-alienation". My contribution to the overall project is an empirical and conceptual examination of borderline personality disorder (BPD). The aim of the empirical part is to examine anomalous self-experiences (i.e. self-disorders) in patients with a clinical diagnosis of BPD to explore if and how these differ from self-disorders found in schizophrenia. The aim of the conceptual part is to discuss the current validity of BPD in light of the history of the borderline concept.

Potential conflicts of interest
