Research areas

My research concerns health, well-being, and educative benefits of pre-school- and school-based health promotion initiatives a life-course and socio-ecological perspective. Therefore, my research interest also focuses on the broader social determinants and conditions related to children’s opportunities to obtain such benefits.

Main research areas

My core expertise covers social and mental health and well-being outcomes of outdoor nature-based interventions, often in school settings, and promotion of such initiatives. In addition, I am experienced in experimental research designs, monitoring, and process evaluation of ‘real-world’ complex health, well-being, and education intervention. In my work, I draw on my extensive knowledge and interest in educational research, pedagogy and didactics.

Current research

Currently, I am engaged af PI and co-PI in sevaral studies on physical activity and well-being in ‘udeskole’ / regular education outside the classroom (EOtC) in extention of the The TEACHOUT Project. Futhermore, i'm PI of a stude on choildrens screentime, the 2025 'Smartphone grayscale impact'-project.

Potential conflicts of interest

Personally, I advocate for and believe in EOtC and have been involved in Danish and international EOtC research since 2010. Since September 2020, I have been a board member of the  Danish association UdeskoleNet, which aim to promote regualar EOtC in Dnamark. I am also a co-founder of the portal www.udeundervisning.dk, which disseminates knowledge about good EOtC practice, and EOtC research.
