Research areas

Type 2 diabetes prevention

Main research areas

My main research area is type 2 diabetes prevention in high risk individuals. I am particularly focused on the use of physical activity as a prevention strategy – including whether the effectiveness of exercise training differs between different prediabetic subgroups.

With a combination of clinical research and basic molecular research I strive to understand the mechanisms that drive the progression from normoglycaemia to prediabetes to diabetes and how training can prevent or delay this.
