Current research
My PhD project has 3 principle aims:
- the regulation of peptidyl arginine deiminases genes (PADI genese) expression under differential stimuli
- the study of polymorphisms across these genes, and possible correlation with some selected systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (RA, SLE and Sjogren' syndrome) and periodontitis
- investigation on the possible correlation of the presence P. gingivalis (and antibodies towards it) and the previously mentioned systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases
