Current research

PhD project: DANDELION - Danish delirium study on neurointensive care patients.

Primary aim of the study:To measure the effect of the intervention bundle on prevalence, duration and type of delirium symptoms using the Intensive Care Delirium Screening Checklist (ICDSC) and Confusion Assessment Method for the ICU (CAM-ICU) in a Neurointensive care unit (NICU) population with acute acquired brain injury. Secondary aim: To validate ICDSC and CAM-ICU for adult NICU with acute acquired brain injury and investigate if delirium symptoms are negatively correlated with quality of life EuroQoL (EQ-5D) and cognitive function Repeatable Battery for Assessment for the Neuropsychological Status (RBANS) at 12-month follow-up post NICU discharge.

Enrolled patients will be contacted 12 months after admission for a follow-up including a quality of life (EuroQoL-5D) questionnaire, a cognitive test measuring their cognitive end point (Repeatable Battery for Assessment of the Neuropsychological Status) and an interview exploring their memories and experience.
