Research areas

My main area of research revolves around diabetes self-management. Currently, I am working on my Ph.D. project which is situated in the context of insulin pump treatment in people with type 1 diabetes. In my study, I collect and analyze survey and register-based data with quasi-experimental econometric and behavioral health economic methods. The aim of my study is to identify new key behavioral characteristics, including time preferences, that may be important for successful insulin pump use. My expectation is that new knowledge about unexplored characteristics in the context of insulin pump treatment may widen our understanding of what drives differences in treatment outcomes. In my project, I also aim to identify and characterize all insulin pump users in Denmark through national Danish registers and to analyze the (cost)-effectiveness of insulin pump therapy. Besides my Ph.D. study, I also conduct research on the impact of COVID-19 on psychosocial health in people with diabetes, and I have partaken in several other diabetes-related research projects, including projects about tools for measuring patient reported outcomes, diabetes in the workplace, and diabetes distress.
