Physiotherapist, ​PhD, Professor

Kristian Thorborg is Professor in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Sciences at Copenhagen and Lund University, and an international recognized specialist and research capacity with more than 70 invited international presentations and keynotes. He has published in Nature Disease Primer (2021) and JAMA Surgery (2021), and his research has been mentioned twice in the New York Times, and in Die Welt. He has been the guest editor of Br J Sport Med four times (2017-2020). Kristian is currently (2021) ranked as No.1 on Groin, at Expertscape (which is international website objectively ranking medical health professionals and institutions by their expertise) 

Main research areas

Prevention of sports injuries, strength training and corrective exercise in rehabilitation, muscle and tendon injuries, hip, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, femoroacetabular impingement syndrome, ACL injuries, meniscus injuries, subacromial impingement syndrome.

Current research

Currently we are running several projects within the treatment and prevention of hip, groin and knee injuries in the adolescent and young physically active population, as well as running large RTC’s on optimizing rehabilitation in patients with shoulder impingement.
