"Main research areas
The clinical and research focus at Center of Adolescent Medicine is young people with critical and chronic illness. Our research is focused on:
young people with chronic illness including transition, adherence and quality of life;
young people with cancer including youth-friendly environment;
the youth-friendly hospital including empowerment and organization.
Our research takes youth involvement as a starting point using patient reported outcome measures (PROM) and patient reported experience measures (PREM)) as well as information from health care professionals and parents. We are using both qualitative and quantitative methods and collaborates with Danish and international researchers in the field of adolescent medicine and health
"Current research
In 2017, we are starting a study on ‘the roads to the youth-friendly hospital’ focusing on empowerment and using cancer, cystic fibrosis and arthritis as cases.
Furthermore, in 2017, we will study barriers and motivators for young cancer survivors´ return to education and work. This investigation will serve as a pre-study for an intervention in collaboration with the primary sector.
We are currently finishing a study on transition. In a randomized controlled study, we have studied adherence, quality of life and patient reported experiences in adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis receiving bi-annual youth consultations in addition to usual rheumatology care or usual care alone.
