An alumna of Copenhagen University, Dr. Emily Wenande is currently completing a PhD degree with Professor Merete Haedersdal's group at the Department of Dermatology at Bispebjerg University Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Dr. Wenande's research centers around laser-assisted drug delivery for non-melanoma skin cancer, at present conducted at Dr. R. Rox Anderson's lab at Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston. By employing new drug combinations with fractional laser delivery, Dr. Wenande aspires to develop simple, efficacious and tolerable local treatments for premalignant and malignant skin lesions. For her work, Dr. Wenande was awarded the Dr. Richard E. Fitzpatrick Clinical Research and Innovations Award in 2016 and an Outstanding Early Career Award in 2017 by the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS).
