Expertises

Knee osteoarthritis; quantification of muscle perfusion using dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI); Chronic widespread pain

Main research areas

Knee osteoarthritis; muscle perfusion; effects of exercise on muscle perfusion in knee osteoarthritis; pain reducing mechanisms of exercise in knee osteoarthritis

Current research

Ongoing project as a part of my PhD:

The aim of the study is explore the effects of a 12-week therapeutic exercise program on muscle perfusion in the peri-articular knee muscles assessed by dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) and its association with changes in pain, other knee related symptoms, and physical function in patients with knee OA. It was hypothesised that exercise therapy would increase muscle perfusion in parallel with decreased pain when compared to a no-attention control intervention.
