Main research areas

Ditte Marie Lindhardt Saunte is an associate professor  at Dept. of Allergy, Dermatology and venereology, Herlev & Gentofte Universisty Hospital, and the Department for Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She obtained her PhD degree in 2008, focusing on dermatophytes epidemiology and establishing an animal model. In 2020, she was elected as an EADV board member and has been actively involved in the dermatology community since 2004. She served as a board member of the Nordic Society for Medical Mycology from 2004 to 2022 and has been the Co-Chair of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Task Force on Mycology since 2015, becoming Chair in 2021.

Associate professor Saunte has been the chair of the Danish Dermatology Society’s guideline committee on hidradenitis suppurativa since 2016 and has also chaired the guidelines on superficial fungal infections for the Danish Dermatologist Society since 2011. In her role as course organizer (chair) of the Dermatology course at the University of Copenhagen, she is responsible for supervising bachelor and master's thesis students, as well as PhD candidates. Her research has primarily focused on hidradenitis suppurativa, epidemiology, co-morbidities, medical and laser treatment, and superficial fungal infections.
