Personal profile

Expertises

Extensive experience of translational and multidisciplinary research in cerebrovascular disease, neurorehabilitation and headache mechanisms. This includes research from bench to bedside with implementation of findings in the clinic.

The research focus is on pathophysiology, neurorecovery and neurorehabilitation in cerebrovascular disease, brain and spinal cord injury in a multidisciplinary setting.

Techniques in the research group includes but not limited to vascular pharmacology, protein chemistry, cell signalling, vascular reactivity in vitro and in vivo, stroke models, brain imaging modalities (fMRI, TCD, NIRS), functional outcome, cognition, application of AI for use in clinical stroke, traumatic brain injury and neurorehabilitation.

Main research areas

Multidisciplinary and translational research in pathophysiology, neurorestoration and neurorehabilitation in cerebrovascular disease, brain and spinal cord injury.

Head of Research, Copenhagen Neuro Injury and Rehabilitation Research Center (CNIRC) and leading the Neuroplasticity and Neurovascular research unit, Dept of Brain and Spinal Cord Injury, Neuroscience Center, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark

Affiliated Dept Neurology, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital.
