Main research areas

The focus of my research lies in the loss of beta cell mass with type 1 diabetes, in addition to the dysfunction observed in alpha cells following type 1 diabetes development. With the use of pro-inflammatory in vitro setups we investigate the potential of using induced pluripotent stem cells to model type 1 diabetes. These investigation are with an aim to widen our knowlegde of beta- and alpha-cell pathogenesis to define new terapeutic targets.
