Main research areas

My research has mainly focused on whether high plasma antioxidant capacity, assessed by measuring plasma levels of different antioxidants or determining the presence of antioxidant-increasing genotypes,  associates with lower risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and all-cause mortality.

Current research

Currently, I am working with the plasma antioxidant urate, and have examined the role of high plasma urate in cancer risk, lung function and COPD, and the interplay between plasma urate and plasma vitamin C. My next project will examine plasma urate, as well as genetically high plasma urate and the association with parkinson's disease.
