Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the most common childhood cancer. Improved treatment strategies have led to significantly increased survival probabilities now exceeding 90%. Cure, however, comes at a price. A significant proportion of survivors are burdened by treatment-related health sequelae that may persist during life. Despite increased focus on these late effect, our knowledge in the area is still limited. My research is focused on the most severe treatment-related health sequelae in survivors of childhood acute leukemia. Increased knowledge in this field will pave the way for future research on risk factors potentially facilitating prevention, early targeted treatment and modifications in anticancer therapy, collectively contributing to a better life following cancer.
