Early nutrition and later health; programming (Developmental origin); Causes and consequences of obesity;

Two main themes of research:

1)      the understanding of how nutrition and other early lifestyle, may contribute to prevent later obesity and other chronic diseases

2)       the understanding and development of new methods to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle and weight in adult life.

A common concept behind both objectives rely on the more recent understanding that obesity is a complex condition, that is caused by more than just too much food and too little exercise.  Therefore, this research plan is expected to further develop current knowledge about the putative causes of obesity, and to expand the research field nutritional epidemiology, by generating new knowledge as well as developing and applying the methodology in the field.
