Type 2 diabetes; clinical research; incretin physiology; bile acid metabolism

Main research areas

I conduct clinical experimental research on the role of bile acid physiology in the human metabolism, with a special focus on glucose metabolism.

Current research

I finished my PhD entitled “A gluco-metabolic perspective on the enterohepatic circulation of bile acids” in June 2017 and is currently holding a split position as a medical doctor (80%) and postdoc (20%).

I am assigned as a co-supervisor for the PhD students Christina Nexøe-Larsen, Henriette Holst and Pernille Sørensen in addition to the research year student Nina Hansen. These students are conducting various clinical experimental studies involving the link between bile acid physiology and glucose metabolism.

Potential conflicts of interest

My PhD project was supported by scintifically unrestricted funding from Sanofi A/S and research grants from the Danish Diabetes Academy supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation and the A.P. Møller Foundation for the Advancement of Medical Science. I have received a lecture fee from AstraZeneca.
