The role of muscle stem cells (satellite cells) and muscle nuclei (myonuclei) in age-related loss of muscle mass and response to resistance exercise and neuromuscular electrical stimulation in the elderly.
Project 1: The responsiveness of muscle stem cells to resistance exercise in the very old (83+ years).
Project 2: Loss of muscle mass during hospitalization in the elderly Geriatric patients, and the effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation on preserving muscle mass and muscle stem cell activity.
Project 3: The effect of pre-activating the muscle stem cells before 3 months of resistance exercise at the early stage of aging (60-75 years).
