Aims and objectives

Sports Orthopedic Research Center – Copenhagen (SORC-C) is a multidisciplinary research unit at the Orthopedic Department at Amager-Hvidovre University Hospital.

The main focus of SORC-C is centered around prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal problems related to physical activity, specifically the optimization of arthroscopic surgery. SORC-C is involved in research, education and organizational work at both national and international levels to promote and deliver safe and healthy sport, exercise and physical activity participation for all.

 

Focus areas

Our areas of expertise are:

  • Shoulder impingement and luxation of the AC-joint
  • Hip impingement and groin pain
  • Patellofemoral pain, dysplasia and instability
  • Trochlea dysplasia, meniscus injuries, ACL injuries and cartilage damage of the knee
  • Acute and subacute muscle-tendon injuries in the lower limb

 

Disciplines, methods and tools

SORC-C was appointed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to the IOC Research Center in the period 2015-2019, and again 2019-2023.

In addition, SORC-C is included in two clinical academic groups in the research collaboration Copenhagen Health Science Partners at the Capital Region of Denmark and the University of Copenhagen: CAG ROAD and CAG imPAct.
