Aims and objectives

The department is dedicated :

  • To study the pathophysiology of overweight-related hypertension.
  • To study the role cardiovascular endocrinology in cardiovascular diseases.
  • To study the potential of new techniques in cardiovascular imaging in cardiovascular diseases.
  • To collect data related to cardiovascular diseases for meta-analysis.

Focus areas

Our focus areas are Overweight-related hypertension, role of the natriuretic peptide system in hypertension, potential of computer tomography in diagnosing cardiovascular diseases, potential of magnetic resonance imaging in diagnosing cardiovascular diseases, role of the renin-angiotensin-aldosteron system (RAAS) in hypertension and meta-analysis.

Disciplines, methods and tools

The foundation of our work is bases on:

  • Clinical studies of patients with hypertension and healthy controls.
  • Cross-sectional and prospective population-based epidemiological studies, including both adults and adolescents.
  • Clinical studies of patients with symptoms and signs of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Meta-analysis.
