Organisation profile

Aims and objectives

We aim to expand our knowledge on the cause and treatment of neurological disease, in particular cerebrovascular disease, to highlight new treatment targets.

We wish to provide a fast track from basic research to implementation of new treatment in patients.

Further, we aim to provide a platform for joint collaboration in improving treatment in stroke, and introducing and testing new methods and technologies in acute rehabilitation

Focus areas

We focus on translational research in stroke, and target knowledge and methods of personalised medicine in the different stroke subtypes. In addition, we investigate the possible cerebrovascular aspects of vascular dementia and Alzheimer Disease.

Disciplines, methods and tools

Methods include basic epidemiology, genetics, cellular models for endothelial dysfunction, and various methods of evaluating peripheral and cerebrovascular reactivity, such as EndoPat, Trans cranial Doppler, CT and MR imaging and PET scan.Neuropsychological tests and physical tests (graded cycling test with talk-test).
