Aims and objectives

The Gastro Unit is the largest gastroenterology and hepatology department in Denmark. We specialize in the diagnosis and medical as well as surgical treatment of gastrointestinal disorders including diseases in the liver, pancreas and biliary tract. Our multidisciplinary teams focus on the clinical management as well as research, which has a very high priority in order to ensure the best, evidence-based interventions for current and future patients.

Focus areas

Our research groups cover all areas of gastroenterology and hepatology. Main focus areas include pancreatic disorders, cirrhosis and complications of cirrhosis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases, intestinal microbiota, endoscopy, and colorectal diseases.

Clinical and translational studies evaluating treatment and diagnostic methods as well as pathophysiology and epidemiology.
