Focus areas

Mental disorders: anxiety, depression, mania, schizophrenia, self-harm and suicidal behaviour.

Aims and objectives 

To advance understanding of the complex biological, psychological, and environmental interrelations underlying affective disorders to both prevent the development and halt the progression of these severe, potentially disabling disorders. Our research bridges the areas of translating psychopathology and neurobiology into clinical settings with a primary focus on the early stages and aims to:

§\tidentify clinically relevant risk and resilience factor including peripheral biomarkers in affective disorders

§\tdevelop new combination of medical, psychological, and social individualized treatments targeting prevention of onset and recurrence in affective disorders and thereby improve overall functioning and quality of life

Our professor

Maj Vinberg is psychiatrist, professor at University of Copenhagen and leader of  the Early Multi modular Prevention and Intervention Research Institute (EMPIRI) at Mental Health Centre, Northern Zealand, Copenhagen University Hospital.
