The Copenhagen Research Centre for Biological and Precision Psychiatry is a leading global provider of research into mental disorders. The Centre is led by Professor Michael E. Benros and is located at the Mental Health Centre Copenhagen, the Mental Health Services - Capital Region and the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Our cross-disciplinary scientists include medical doctors, statisticians, bioinformaticians, geneticists and research nurses – all needed to advance the understanding of mental disorders and to improve the current treatment options. Our research creatively utilizes our extensive domain expertise and the unique Danish Big Data resources with nationwide data, large-scale population-based electronic health records (EHR), large-scale genetic studies, and national biobank studies, to deeply phenotyped clinical cohorts with brain scans, CSF, blood, microbiome and wearables, to randomized controlled trials, and even the development of stem cell-derived “mini-brains”. Our methods range from machine learning, including deep learning, to more traditional statistics. We strive to be international leaders within the field where our research significantly advances the state-of-the-art and impacts the current paradigms. Our mission is to create breakthrough biological insights and novel understanding of mental disorders - to prevent suffering and improve the current treatments and lives of those affected by mental disorders
