Aims and objectives

The mission of  research at the paediatric department is to strengthen the research environments and create an interaction between clinical and basic research  to become a strong regional, national and international Centre for paediatric research in childhood and adolescence.

Focus areas

Quality assessment in disease management
Type 1 Diabetes (particularly the remission phase)
Tourette syndrome  and other tic disorders
Asthma and allergy

COPSAC studies the causes and mechanisms in the development of asthma, allergy and eczema based on birth cohorts using genetic, immunological and particularly microbiome profiling of the children.

Disciplines, methods and tools

Shared facilities, Ph.D. -offices, quiet rooms and meeting rooms have been established as well as computer-equipped workplaces for the post graduate students with access to Internet journals and databases.  

Shared meeting activities across the different research  areas has been created.
