Aims and objectives
Disturbed mineral homeostasis is hallmark of chronic kidney disease and important risk factor for morbidity and development of severe cardiovascular and skeletal complications. We generate translational models to study the pathogenesis and treatment of human kidney diseases and their cardiovascular and skeletal complications. Clinical observational and interventional studies explore new possibilities for diagnosis and treatment.
Diabetes is one of the most common causes of chronic kidney disease. Through research collaborations we aim to increase the knowledge of the underlying pathophysiology and risk factors of diabetic kidney disease and improve the therapeutic options
We educate Ph.D. students, medical students and physicians in the skills required for biomedical and clinical research.
