Aims and objectives
Through research and education, The Department of Emergency Medicine will lead the development of the emergency medicine specialty across professions and sectors for the benefit of patients, relatives and employees.
Our research projects deal with e.g. quality in healthcare, by securing:
- Justice.
- Safety.
- Effectiveness.
- Patient-centricity.
- Timeliness.
- Usefulness.
Focus areas
Our research is versatile and focuses on:
- Patient involvement early in the acute course.
- Research in clinical decision-making processes.
- Focus on elderly patients, including optimizing their nutritional condition and medication.
- Measurement of renal function using NIRS as a non-invasive diagnostic tool.
Disciplines, methods and tools
The Department of Emergency Medicine is part of interdisciplinary collaborations with, among others, The Department of Clinical Research, including professor and head of research Ove Andersen, Amager and Hvidovre Hospital.
We are part of the research collaboration ACUTE CAG, which seeks to further develop and refine the measurement of biological age by identifying, combining and testing different biomarkers.
The results are to be used to develop individualized treatments and personalized medicine that can be used from the moment a patient is acutely admitted.
