Abstract

It's estimated that 1.9-3.8 million people live in the European Union without a valid residence permit and that 13% are younger than 18 years (1). In Denmark, undocumented migrant children have the same legal rights to healthcare as Danish children, but this does not happen in practice. For example, they can visit emergency departments for acute healthcare, but they can't access routine healthcare if they are not legally registered with the authorities.
