Abstract
A number of cardiac diseases are associated with dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, which causes an increased risk of heart failure progression. Visualisation of the heart's sympathetic nervous system, using dedicated radiolabelled tracers (which is so far mostly done with iod-123-metaiodobenzylguanidine), is a strong diagnostic tool to visualise the molecular mechanisms of heart failure and it has a different potential than more traditional image modalities.
