Abstract

Calcium-phosphate scaffolds for bone implantation are brittle. The elastic properties are far from comparable to that of human bone. Adding resilient polymers to the calcium-phosphate scaffold could increase the elastic properties of the scaffolds. This study shows that adding polymers to a calcium-phosphate scaffold increases the mechanical strength without compromising the microstructure.
