Abstract

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) is a serious complication for patients in antiresorptive treatment (AR). In March 2021, the Danish Patient Safety Authority (DPSA) published information material regarding the management and referral of patients in AR. This study aims to investigate whether the information material has affected the time from tooth removal to referral to a hospital setting, as well as whether the removal was performed by a dentist or an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Secondarily, factors influencing the course of treatment and healing in patients with MRONJ are examined.
