Abstract
In light of a case of hypereosinophilic syndrome with no revealing underlying disease, the diagnosis and treatment of idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) are discussed. The recent evidence that there are two variants of HES, myeloproliferative and lymphocytic, is considered.
