Abstract

Diffuse lung disease in children represents a heterogeneous group of respiratory disorders with high morbidity and mortality. Typical features include tachypnoea, failure to thrive, diffuse radiological and histopathological abnormalities. Advances in genetics and pathophysiology, combined with a recent paediatric classification have improved our understanding of these disorders. The workup, diagnosis and management of these rare paediatric pulmonary diseases are difficult and require centralised, interdisciplinary team approach in experienced paediatric pulmonary centres.
